La Serena: the realm of steppe birds

Speak of the region of La Serena from the ornithological point of view is to do it as the great bastion of the region, and practically of the entire peninsula, of steppe birds. During the tour of this region the predominant landscape of almost infinite plains is the territory of birds such as the Great Bustard, Little Bustard, Long-tailed Sandgrouse, or where the Montagu´s Harrier has its main reproductive nucleus in Extremadura. This mini tour is presented on two dates in which we can enjoy the explosion of color with the birds of spring, and in winter with the sound of cranes and other species that are concentrated in high numbers at this time of year.

Duration: Three days, two nights.

Calendar: Spring and Winter.

Target species: Calandar Lark, Great and Littel Bustard, Long-tailed Sandgrouse, Blacke-bellied Sandgrouse, European Roller, Lesser Kestrel, Montagu´s Harrier, Common Crane, Golden Plover, Pallid Harrier, Sociable Lapwing, Merlin…

Number of participants: Minimun three people. Max 8 people.

Price: 200 € per person.

Including: specialized local guide, optical equipment and consultation bibliography.

Recommended: optics, sunscream, hat/cap, comfortable clothes in accordance with the weather and suitable footwear.
